The new BMX track in Bromham has been a huge success after it was officially opened last month.

The project was paid for by community fundraising and donations, funding from the Devizes Area Board and a £10,000 grant from the Hills Group through the Landfill Communities Fund.

The project was started by children in Bromham who took their ideas to the parish council and, after raising the £25,000 needed, it was opened on July 13.

Peter Paget, chairman of Bromham Parish Council, said: “I think it’s been very successful, the children have had a lovely time over the summer holidays.”

Project co-ordinator and parish councillor Catherine Read has been involved from the start along with her son, Bryn.

“There are not many facilities for young people in the village,” she said.

“All the children are using it and have taken ownership of the track.”

Coun Read has said they will be looking into the possibility of holding events and getting BMX clubs involved.
