REVELLERS enjoyed a winning combination of watching rugby and tasting real ales during Royal Wootton Bassett’s beer festival at the weekend.

The seventh annual festival, held by the Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club, took place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, offering a host of ales alongside the club’s matches.

On Friday, visitors got to enjoy the RWBA Swing Band and more music, before Saturday saw rugby, music and ale combine.

Running alongside a match between Royal Wootton Bassett and Bicester, attractions on offer included mini rugby, a barbecue, a pig roast and music in the form of the Kenny Driscoll Band and others.

Andrew Gassor, the club’s vice chairman and beer festival organiser, said: “We had a really good weekend.

“We were fortunate with the weather and the great result we enjoyed on Saturday.

“Overall, there was a good crowd.

“We were only supposed to be holding the beer festival on Friday and Saturday but we carried on going until about 4pm on Sunday to include the matches going on that day.”
