The 2014 Wiltshire Poppy Appeal will be launched on Monday, with a parachute jump from The Royal British Legion’s Jump4Heroes at Stonehenge.

The team will descend to the stones carrying a large poppy to be presented to the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Sarah Troughton CstJ.

A pupil from Shrewton Primary School will read an extract from In Flanders Fields by John McCrae.

Royal British Legion trustee for the South West, Lieutenant Colonel JF Falzon OSJ BEM and school children from Shrewton Primary School will also be at the launch.

Every poppy bought during the appeal helps to raise the £1.6m needed by the legion each week to deliver practical help and advice to the armed forces.

It is the largest single fundraising event in the legion’s calendar, with more than 40 million poppies being made and distributed across the UK and overseas.
