Holy Trinity Primary School in Great Cheverell has received a letter from the Government commending it on coming in the top two per cent of the country for Year one phonics screening.
Minister of State for school reform, Nick Gibb MP, wrote: “To be in the top two per cent of schools with 100 per cent of pupils achieving the expected standard in the check is a tremendous achievement.”
Holy Trinity headteacher Mercedes Henning said: “We are delighted that recognition is being given to the teachers of our younger children and that our good practice is seen to be effective across the whole school. We believe in a broad and balanced curriculum.”
Last year the school got a similar letter commending them on being in the top one per cent of the country for Key stage two SATS test results.
