Nearly 800 people have been tested for type 2 diabetes at a series of Healthy Lifestyle roadshows and nearly half were found to be at risk of getting the disease.
Events took place in towns across the county including Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Bradford on Avon. A total of 791 people were tested and 387 were found to be at risk and referred to their GP.
The roadshows, run by Wiltshire Council and Diabetes UK, with the support of the NHS Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group, also gave people more information about the condition.
Keith Humphries, Wiltshire Council’s cabinet member for public health and protection, said: “It’s reassuring that so many people took the opportunity to get tested but there will be many more who could be at risk.”

If you discover the risk of you getting the illness is moderate or high you should see your GP.
