SPECSAVERS optician in Marlborough High Street has donated 100 high-visibility vests to pupils at St Peter’s school as part of Road Safety Week.

The optician, supporting national charity Brake in its annual road safety awareness drive, presented the donation last Thursday.

Store director Paul Shimell said: “Child safety is extremely important to us.

“During winter, visibility and light can be limited at any time of the day, and with this year’s theme of looking out for each other, we wanted to support St Peter’s to help spread Brake’s message.”

Headteacher Caroline Spindlow said the vests will be worn by pupils when they are out with the teachers.

She said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Specsavers in Marlborough for the donation.

“We try to equip as many children as possible with high-vis to help keep them safe. With Specsavers’ donation, we can continue to ensure their safety while spreading a very serious message; to put safety first and be considerate to one another.”
