A man arrested in Devizes early on Friday morning in connection with threatening an officer with a bladed article has now been charged with an offence and remanded in custody.
Luke Smith, 29, from Salisbury, was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning in Forty Acres Road, on suspicion of making threats to kill and affray.
Seven officers attending the scene including a dog unit.
Smith was alone and unarmed when he was apprehended.
Following an incident in St Michael's Road, Salisbury, at 3.23pm on Wednesday, December 10, armed officers patrolled the city in an attempt to find a man.
Police then appealed for help in tracing Luke Elliott Smith who they wanted to speak to urgently.
Smith was arrested in Devizes on Friday and on Saturday he appeared before Swindon magistrates charged with threatening with an article with blade or point or offensive weapon in a public place.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Salisbury Crown Court on January 9.
Inspector Dave Minty said after the arrest on Friday: "Since the incident, we have worked tirelessly to find and arrest the individual.
"I would like to thank the local community for their help in this investigation and reassure them that incidents such as these are not a regular occurrence."
