Sixth formers and staff at Devizes School got into the Christmas spirit and helped raise money for a charity trying to bring cheer to youngsters living in poverty and war torn countries.

Students put on their favourite Christmas jumpers and paid for the privilege to join in Save The Children’s national day on Friday.

They joined thousands of people from across the country who contributed to Christmas Jumper Day.

The Devizes event was organised by sixth form ambassadors and senior students helped by deputy head of sixth form Nicola Corry.

Staff member Karen Syms, who joined in the fun along with teachers, said: “Everyone looked fantastic.”

The school raised a total of £132, thanks to the 87 students and 45 staff who took part and donated £1 each, The sixth students who organised it were: Katie Sims, Finn Burge, Aaliyah Williams, Emily Hutchinson, Rhiannon Owen, Chloe Stobbart, Sam Wyper, Vicky Handley, Freddie Powell, Joe Morrison, Emma Wild and Joseph Clarke.
