WILLY Wonka, Harry Potter and Horrid Henry were all hanging out at Pewsey Primary School on Monday to kick start book week.

Youngsters and their teachers came to school dressed as their favourite book characters and have been enjoying lessons based based around books, authors and illustrators.

Headtecher Nicola Gilbert, who spent the day dressed as a pirate, said: “It was a really nice start to book week.

“The children really enjoyed it and they were excited to see the teachers in fancy dress.

“Each class have been learning performance poetry which they will perform in whole school assembly on Friday.”

This evening pupils will be going back to the school in their pyjamas to listen to bedtime stories and enjoy a mug hot chocolate.

Mrs Gilbert said: “All of the children are looking forward to it, right from reception up to year 6.

“Last time we did it there was a really nice atmosphere. We had a fire on the interactive white board and sleeping bags and it was lovely and cosy.”
