A PARTIAL review is to take place of Wiltshire’s Core Strategy.

The strategy formally adopted by the council in January, is a blueprint for sustainable development in the county up to 2026.

It sets out county-wide policy, replacing many of the policies within the former district local plans for Kennet, North Wiltshire, Salisbury and West Wiltshire.

The purpose of the partial review is to assess the need for further development management policies to be included in the Wiltshire Core Strategy in order to have consistent strategic development plan policy across Wiltshire.

It will incorporate, where necessary, the remaining saved district local plan policies and will also allow for any policy gaps to be addressed to improve consistency with national planning policy.

Consultation, which has started, provides the opportunity for people to tell Wiltshire Council what the partial review should cover and whether the policy gaps identified are the right ones.

Toby Sturgis, cabinet member for strategic planning, said: “The outcome of this partial review will be to provide a single consistent and comprehensive planning document with which to assess planning applications in Wiltshire.”

The consultation on the partial review closes at 5pm on Tuesday, May 26.
