ARTS student Roxanne Appleby-Dymond is hoping to join the likes of Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith with a performance at the Youth Music Theatre, if she can raise the necessary fees.

Miss Appleby-Dymond, 20, of Anchor Road, Calne, has been offered a place on the Youth Music Theatre’s show Dirty Stop Outs in August but needs to raise £910 to be able to attend.

Her fees were over £1000 before a Youth Music Theatre bursary helped towards the cost of covering her accommodation, food, pastoral care and tuition from leading industry practitioners.

Miss Appleby-Dymond said: “I don’t want to think about it if I was not to raise the money, it’s an absolutely massive opportunity.

“Youth Music Theatre is the biggest company for musical theatre, bringing together young people with aspirations and people working in the business. We could work with them in the future and if they remember us then it’s a great contact to have.

“I’ll learn so much from them and it’ll be incredibly enjoyable too.”

Miss Appleby-Dymond finishes her second year of training at Judith Hockaday College of Dance and Drama in Swindon this year and has been accepted onto a Musical Theatre course at The Brighton Academy.

She is planning a concert at her grandmother’s church to help raise funds and is also balancing various part time jobs, working on events for Calne Town Council and support artist work on TV and film.

Local theatre goers may recognise her from various Summer Youth Projects performed at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, the latest in a long line of productions dating back to her schooldays at John Bentley School.

She said: “For as long as I can remember I have done all the shows and stuff at school. It’s a great opportunity to learn and grow as a performer and it’s a step closer to my dream.

“My dream is to be a musical theatre performer and this is such an exciting opportunity that could help me get that step closer to my dream.

“Any donation, no matter how small, I would be so thankful. I’d be happy to put thanks in the programme for anyone who can donate.

The Youth Music Theatre, a registered charity, is The UK's biggest musical theatre company bringing together industry professionals and young people interested in musical theatre.
