A 29-year-old man has escaped with minor injures after the car he was driving ended up on its roof.

The man was taken to Chippenham hospital's minor injuries unit yesterday evening.

Police officers believe the vehicle collided with parked cars on the A4 London Road, near Shelburne Road, which was closed for almost two hours due to the incident.

South West Ambulance service were called at 5.13pm to assist the man who had minor cuts and scrapes to his arm before taking him to the minor injuries unit in Chippenham.

The Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed at The Green but its crew was not required.

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue also attended the scene to make the vehicle safe but were not required to free the man from his upturned car.

Calne Police reopened the road around 7pm.

PSCO Shelley Gray thanked members of the public for helping at the scene with directing traffic until further police officers from Chippenham and Devizes could attend.
