HONDA'S super-hot Swindon-built Civic Type R, with a top speed of 167mph, will be with dealers next month.
And motoring editor Leigh Robinson was given an early peek at the two-litre, 310ps car, when he was taken around the Slovakia Ring by British Touring Car champion Matt Neal this week.
“Being driven at in excess of 125mph on a track with Matt Neal was one my top 10 experiences of all time," said Leigh.
“He is a brilliant driver, the car is a fabulous piece of equipment which Swindon can be proud of and even at 125mph I didn’t feel nervous. But I did make sure I took the precaution of having a light breakfast that morning.
“I got to drive the car on normal roads and it is quite beautiful. It handles like a kitten with the power of lion.”
Neal and his partner Gordon Shedden are Type R drivers in this year’s championship which they lead and both are in action in our video.
