MUM Jo-ann Williams has plenty to celebrate after surviving cancer, having a baby she feared she would never have and losing six stone in weight.

Mrs Williams, 41, and her mum Marlene Hurd, 74, have both seen their figures transformed since joining the Devizes Weight Watchers group. Mrs Williams has dropped from a dress size to 24 to a 14 and still gets great satisfaction from being able to buy clothes from any shop she chooses.

She said: "It is incredible to just be able to walk into any High Street shop and know there are going to be things that fit me. It is a wonderful feeling."

Mrs Hurd of Freeman Road, Devizes, who has lost 42lbs, feels much fitter and has more energy when she spends time with her ten grandchildren.

But for Mrs Williams feeling and looking good is the icing on the cake after several years of battling her weight and then being diagnosed with skin cancer which led to surgery on her leg.

She and her husband Simon also feared that her weight might have made it more difficult for her to get pregnant but 20 months ago after first starting her weight loss programme she had baby Tarin.

She said: "I am so happy. Things have been difficult but everything has worked out. I am in a good place now. At one time we thought we might never have children so it is wonderful to have Tarin.

"Simon has been very supportive of me. He loves my new figure but he never complained about me being overweight."

Mrs Williams, from Cherhill, near Calne, first joined Weight Watchers at the scout hut in Southbroom Road, Devizes, in 2013 after being referred by her GP. She lost two stone and to her delight she then became pregnant.

In September, 2014, after the birth of Tarin she re-joined and in total has lost 84lbs going from 19stone 5lbs to less than 13 and a half stone.

She said: "I love the Weight Watchers programme and find it quite easy to follow. I like to have a snack in the evening so I will save some points for that."

She now loves to shop and is more likely to spend money on clothes as she knows she will feel good. She said: "It was great at Christmas when I wanted a party dress and I could just go into Next and buy one off the peg."

Meetings are held in Devizes on Tuesdays at 10am and 6pm. For more information contact Nicola Bonfield by emailing nbonfield@weight-watchers.co.uk
