AFTER a fourth year of raising money for Prospect Hospice, Withy King in Marlborough has presented the hospice team with a cheque for over £7,000.

The private client team at the Marlborough and Swindon law firm raised over £7,500 for the hospice during its most recent Make a Will month by waiving its usual fees in exchange for charitable donations.

Mandy Casavant, a Wills and estate planning specialist at the firm and a trustee at Prospect Hospice, said: “This annual campaign is an excellent way of raising awareness of the importance of Wills while raising money for an invaluable charity. We are very pleased to play our part in supporting Prospect in delivering dedicated end-of-life care and family support services locally and proud that our clients contributed over half of the overall amount, just shy of £14,000, raised by the initiative this year.”

Withy King helped to draft or update more than 30 wills in support of Prospect’s Make a Will Month- the fourth year the firm has supported the campaign. Withy King’s clients have raised over £24,000 for the hospice over the four years that the firm has been involved.

Melanie Dicker, member of Prospect Hospice’s fundraising team, said: “Make a Will Month has been very valuable to us since we first introduced it, and provides a great opportunity for people to focus on the things that are likely to matter most to them after they die.

“We are very appreciative of the generous support given to us by the solicitors who take part in our Make a Will Month.”

For over 30 years, Prospect has provided the only dedicated end-of-life care service for the community of 300,000 people living in Swindon, Marlborough and north Wiltshire. The hospice provides care around the clock every day of the year. Last year Prospect provided care and support for more than 5,500 local people.
