POLICE are investigating the theft of £100 from a Pewsey shop.

It was reported that a man entered the shop, Around the World, in North Street, at about 3pm on Thursday, April 7, and told the store assistant that they had been advised by the owner that their mother’s bag was being held in the cupboard at the back of the store after she accidentally left it there.

The store assistant went to the back of the store to look for the bag, but when she returned to the front of the shop, the man had left.

The assistant discovered that the till had been opened and £100 had been taken.

The man is being described as white, about six foot and two inches tall and of medium build.

Police are not treating the man in a CCTV picture issued earlier as a suspect in the matter.

Anyone with information should call PSCO Jonathan Mills on 101, or alternatively Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
