CCTV images of two men wanted in connection with the theft of more than £400 in cash from Wiltshire supermarkets have been released by police.

The first incident took place at Sainsbury’s on Bath Road in Chippenham last Thursday (May 19) at 1pm, when a 69-year-old Calne woman’s purse was stolen which contained £120 in cash.

The second incident occurred at 1.35pm, also last Thursday, at Sainsbury’s on Bath Road in Melksham when a 60-year-old woman had her purse stolen which contained £300 in cash.

Police are looking to speak with the two men who they are linking with both incidents.

One is described as white, average build, middle-aged, brown hair, who was wearing a chequered shirt with a black jacket and jeans.

The second thief is described as white, slim build with ginger hair.

PCSO Sarah Moth said: “We would like to remind people to keep their belongings secure and don’t leave them on show.

“If anyone has any information regarding these incidents please call 101 and ask to speak with PC 2564 Mercer.”
