TEACHING assistant Louise Pottinger got disco fever raging at her school to raise money for Cancer Research.
Mrs Pottinger, who is known at Urchfont Primary, near Devizes, for her mad cap ideas recruited staff and pupils to take part in Dance For Life on Friday.
Around 60 youngsters and eight teachers joined in the fun and dressed for the occasion in shocking pink outfits and wigs. She said: "I have organised Race For Life type running events in the past and raised more than £5,000 but this year I wanted to do something a bit different.
"A parent suggested Dance For Life and I took it on. People know I like doing mad things. It was really well supported. Children paid £2 to take part and were given sponsor forms. I don't know yet how much we will raise but I hope it will be more than a few hundred pounds."
She said Cancer Research UK was a charity close to her heart as her father had suffered from cancer and her niece from leukaemia.
The dance recruits gathered in the playground after school and spent an hour dancing to a play list compiled by Mrs Pottinger. She said: "I mixed ac couple of slow ones in with the fast ones so I didn't completely exhaust them."
A handful of boys and one male teacher joined the females for the dance session.
