THE Barge Inn at Honeystreet, near Pewsey, has been put on the market for £900,000.

Real estate advisor Savills, on behalf of a private client, has listed the three-storey, Grade II-listed pub which offers open plan seating for up to 60 customers plus an attractive canal-side beer garden.

Dating back to the 1800s, the land includes a one-acre camping and caravan site which is located in the grounds, as well as a newly-built 3,500 sq ft oak barn, which could be converted into holiday accommodation subject to planning consent.

A community project took over the pub in August 2010 after its previous landlords June and Adrian Potts retired after running the pub for 17 years.

It re-opened in April 2012 after a major refit financed by the Big Lottery’s Village SOS fund with more than £430,000 being poured into refurbishing the building and with plans to eventually have a village shop.

Adam Bullas, licensed leisure director at Savills, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to invest in a traditional public house, which combines plenty of character with a strong trading history.

"The popular camping and caravan site means potential new owners would benefit from multiple income streams.”
