PUPILS and staff at Pewsey Vale School are celebrating record breaking results at the end of the school’s GCSE year.

Pupils flooded the school to pick up their results on Thursday (August 25) with over 60 per cent of them receiving five A*s-C grades and over 40 per cent achieving more than 10 high grade passes with A*-C grades.

Carol Grant, head of Pewsey Vale, said: “This has been an incredibly successful year for Pewsey Vale. The results are fantastic and I am delighted for the students and staff. It is particularly pleasing that students of all abilities have excelled this year. They have worked incredibly hard and I am extremely proud of them all.

“Top GCSE grades are increasingly hard to achieve, but we have a very talented team of teachers who work tirelessly to support students, not just in school, but after school and during weekends and holidays. The school has improved against every measure and with continued support from parents and our local community, we are confident that we will continue this record breaking trend.”

Twins Oliver and Andrew Gray both received top marks for their results, both being very pleased about the grades.

Oliver said: “I got three A*s, five As and four Bs, I am very pleased and I was expecting it slightly and I will be studying physics, French, maths and history at Bishops Wordsworth in Salisbury.”

Andrew said: “I got three A*s, eight As and one B, I was quite nervous about getting my results, it has been a while since the exams so it has been a lot of waiting. I will be going to Hardenhuish for my A-levels.”

Every pupil at Pewsey Vale achieved at least eight GCSE passes, with 96 per cent of them gaining at least one high grade pass of A*-C.

Chair of Governors, Tracy Richards said: “'I have been so impressed with standards of teaching and the efforts of both our teachers and students. To achieve such fantastic results in such a volatile time in education is testimony to their hard work. Congratulations to everyone, it is well deserved”
