WITH CHRISTMAS rearing its head, Marlborough town council has applied for the road closure in the High Street for the annual light switch on event.
The town council applied for the road closure for November 18, which falls on a Friday this year, from 3pm until 9pm for the interest of safety for the crowds.
Last year’s switch on, which drew hundreds to the centre of the town, welcomed a surprise performance from British pop band Scouting for Girls before the Mayor of Marlborough Margaret Rose switched on the lights at 7pm.
The Christmas lights switch on road closure has now joined the Marlborough Mop road closures which are taking place from October 8 from midday and October 15 from midday.
The application is now open for any comments until September 30, they can do this by contacting the Traffic Orders Team, Sustainable Transport Group, Wiltshire Council in Bythesea Road in Trowbridge, BA14 BJN.
