AFTER a year since the opening of the Market Lavington Music and Comedy Club, manager Ted Osborn is promising that the show will go on.

The club, which takes over the Market Lavington community hall in St Mary’s Road has just seen in its first year of business. Already hosting sold-out events like Swede Dreamz, the ABBA tribute, and Rolling Stones Now, things don’t seem to be slowing down for the popular addition to the village.

Mr Osborn, 55, said: “We have a number of events coming up at the club over the next couple of months. We have a comedy night on October 1 where Arthur Smith will be headlining as well as two warm-up acts. I approached a few people who didn’t seem interested by Arthur did, he seems like a really nice man and he is very funny.

“The past year has been a lot of hard work, we don’t take anything when we organise events, it all goes back to charity. So far, since we have been running events, we have donated £1,000 to charity and we should be able to give more in future.”

A Christmas and New Year’s Eve performance will be partying the night away for the club, welcoming everyone from the area to come along to see in the festivities.

“We have a Christmas party with a disco and a buffet and then the Beatles tribute, The Upbeat Beatles, will be performing on New Year’s. This will the villages very first New Year’s Eve party, it is also an event for under 18s as well so everyone can enjoy themselves,” added Mr Osborn.

“People always ask for food at the club so we decided to start doing it for everyone. We will also be hiring an outside catering company for a hog roast too.”

Although plans are already in motion for events taking place from now until New Year’s Eve, Mr Osborn has gone one further and has announced plans for next year.

“We have a number of events booked for next year, which include a return of the brilliant ABBA tribute Swede Dreams, John Otway, AC/DC tribute Hells Bells, Madness tribute Los Palmas 6, who have the original Madness sax player Steve Turner, and our first festival Summer Sounds on July 1 which will have eight live bands play,” added Mr Osborn.

Arthur Smith will be performing at the club on Saturday (October 1) with doors opening from 7pm. Tickets cost £16 in advance or £20 on the door.
