FOLK DUO Chris While and Julie Matthews are set to appear for a performance at St Mary’s Church in Marlborough as part of their new tour.

The folk musicians, who have just released their tenth studio album Shoulder to Shoulder, will be performing at the church off Silverless Street on Saturday (September 14). After 22 years performing together, the two musical ladies will be bringing their own style of folk acoustic music to the town.

Musician Richard Hawley said: “I love watching Julie and Chris play and sing together, the harmonies are so good and they carry it off with seemingly effortless charm, it’s a rare and wondrous thing, they are also top lasses too, it’s a real honour just to be an audience member but I’ve had the added honour of standing on stage with them and playing along in the background. Things like that I’ll treasure forever, truly gifted human beings.”

The new album by Chris and Julie will be introducing 11 new songs that cover topics such as LGBT rights and refugees fleeing to Europe, each song delivering harmonies, clarity and impeccable vocal talent.

The performance at St Mary’s Church will start at 8pm on Saturday (September 24). Tickets for the show cost £15 each and are available by visiting www.marlboroughfolk-roots.co.uk/buy-tickets/
