CALNE'S very own cinema Big Screen Beversbrook has been awarded more than £2,000 to help make cinema-going even more fun.

The cinema is run by Calne Town Council at the Beversbrook Sports & Community Facility and has held film screenings between October and July for several years.

The £2,222 British Film Institute (BFI) Neighbourhood Cinema grant will fund a new projector and audio equipment.

Beversbrook manager Kevin Whitehorn, who is looking forward to bringing more popular films to Calne over the next year, said: “We have seven films confirmed for autumn/winter 2016, with a mixture of titles such as Absolutely Fabulous for adults on Friday evenings and family favourites like The Jungle Book and The BFG during the day on weekends.

"With such an array of films, people may like to take advantage of our loyalty card which allows them to watch two films and see the third half price, plus receive a free soft drink.”

Tickets to Big Screen Beversbrook are available on the door or in advance from Calne Visitor & Community Information Centre and cost £4 for adults, £2.50 for under 16s and £12.50 for a family ticket.

Free parking is available and refreshments are on sale.
