A FESTIVAL to celebrate the life and music of American rock ‘n’ roll star Eddie Cochran will be held in Chippenham this weekend.
The Eddie Cochran Revival Weekend will be held at the Olympiad Leisure Centre on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-12am and will include acts such as The Runaways, The Quantums and Johnny Flame and The Dragons, amongst others.
There will also be a pre-party on Friday at the Constitutional Club from 7.30pm-1am where Jack Rabbit Slim, guest guitarist Darrel Higham and The Deadshots will perform.
Cochran was 21 years old when he was killed on April 17, 1960, following a car crash on the A4 in Chippenham after performing at a gig in Bristol.
Cochran had influenced a generation with his rockabilly songs and tribute concerts and festivals have been held in the town over the decades.
Tickets for the event, which is organised by Rockabilly Western, can still be bought from www.rockabilly-western.com.
