URCHFONT opener Julian Wood carried his bat for a superb century, but it was Collingbourne who claimed the victory in a thrilling Division Two match.

Opening bowler Ollie Scott finished the innings with match best figures of 5-56 off 12 overs with excellent support from Tom Basford (2-49) Graham Chandler (1-33) and Tom Grant (1-48).

But he could not dislodge Wood. With support from Slater (20) at the start and his captain Bateman (42), Urchfont amassed a total of 207-8 in their 45 overs.

Thanks to some aggressive bowling from Williams (4-27) and Joseph (2-48), Collingbourne fell to 27-4 off 11 overs. With four of Collingbourne's best batsmen going cheaply it was down to captain Owen Sheppard and star batsman Geoff Rogers (33) to steady the ship.

Thanks to some hard graft and sensible batting the pair put on a 58 run partnership.

Important contributions from Ollie Scott (22) and Martin Oliver (16), both pairing with Sheppard (51), took the score to 183-8 with four overs to go.

This left the team's two left handed batsmen Basford (16no) and Tom Grant (20no) to claim an exciting victory.

Bradford were soon in trouble against Burbage but James Edwards (50), captain Matthew Harrington and a sparkling knock of 52 off just 27 balls from Nick Gerrish put the visitors into a decent position. Pick of the Burbage attack was Terry Strong (12-7-18-2).

Chasing 145 in reply, Burbage lost wickets at regular intervals to some good bowling and excellent catching, and at 66-7 off 19 overs Bradford were looking to secure a convincing victory. Ash Rosier (24) and Nick Cook (21) kept the pressure on until the final wicket was taken with the score on 122.

Division One

BOX claimed near maximum points on Saturday as they romped to a ten-wicket victory over bottom of the table Sutton Veny.

Captain Dave Kelly put the opposition, fielding only nine men, into bat and openers Robson (14) and Frost (12) put on 23 before Rob Styles (2-31) forced Robson to loft a simple catch to debutant Lewis Baxter at mid off.

Struggling on 45-3, Hares (42) and Lewins (30) repaired the innings with some lusty blows before both were bowled by Lewis Baxter (4-23). Dave Crawford (2-34) wrapped the innings up by clean bowling Duffosse (7).

Chasing 130 to win, openers Neil Pettit (66no) and Tony Trotman (37no) raced to the required total inside 24 overs with ease to give Box 25 points and close the gap on Potterne and Spye Park at the top. Only 12 points separate the top three with eight games to go.

Division Four

CAMERON Campbell (5-32) claimed five wickets for leaders Wilcot as they bowled Bradford Town 2nds out for 88, including 22 extras.

Graham Smith (3-9) also had success in a fine fielding display for the visitors.

But a disastrous reply, which included five ducks against an accurate medium pace attack, saw Wilcot bowled out for 77. Only Steve O'Donnell provided any resistance to Bradford's bowlers, ending on 27 having run out of partners Division Five

NORTH Bradley clicked up through the gears to claim a five wicket win at Biddestone 3rds.

Batting first, the home team could only manage 139-7, with extras top-scoring on 36 as the batsmen struggled with their timing.

Bradley's reply was stuttering at 78-5 against the in-form Andy Marsh (3-42) and Tom Sorby (6-3-10-1). But some strong hitting in an unbeaten partnership between Eades (39) and Liam Brown (27) saw them home.

Division Six

POTTERNE 2nds' good form continued with a well-fought win over a resilient Cooper Avon 2nds in Melksham.

Potterne batted first and were reduced to 55-5 in the 21st over through accurate bowling by the hosts' openers Taylor (12-5-17-2) and Trudgen (12-1-54-2).

But the patient Martin Hulme (40) and a 59-run partnership between Andy Gennever (25) and Fred Kerley (31) lead Potterne to 166-8 of their 45 overs.

In reply, Cooper Avon found runs hard to come by as Ben Mason (9-4-10-2) produced another miserly opening spell. Shearn (20) threatened to take the game away from Potterne but he was cleaned up by Mason just as he was beginning to score freely.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals, with Cooper Avon's nemesis Brendon Baker (4-1-18-3) making it seven wickets for him against the Tyremen this season. The hosts were finally bowled out in the 34th over after reaching 103.

Box 2nds suffered yet another defeat, this time to Goatacre 3rds. Batting first, Box scored 85 all out, Matt Cave grabbing 1-7 off 12 overs and Chris Watchman 4-7 off 5.1 overs.

In reply, Goatacre were made to work for the runs and lost five wickets in the process.

Corsham 4ths, fielding five academy players, three of whom were making their senior debut, maintained their push for league honours with a surprising ten-wicket win over Collingbourne 2nds.

Bowled out for 68 runs in 30 overs, Collingbourne struggled against the bowling of old-stager Ron Rogers (4-23) and debutant Tom Nosek.

John Gale and Adrian Smith had little trouble inching their way to the target despite the use of eight different bowlers.

The pair saw Corsham home in the 30th over with Gale undefeated on 24 and Smith on 38 to give Corsham maximum points.
