A teenager has been airlifted to hospital with “potentially life-threatening injuries” after a crash on a busy Wiltshire road.
A 17-year-old boy, who was driving one of the vehicles, was left with “potentially life-threatening” injuries and was rushed to hospital via air ambulance.
He remains in hospital and is in what police have described as a "stable condition."
Three occupants of the other car were also taken to hospital with “minor injuries.”
A spokesperson for the force said: “Following a collision between two cars on the A4 Box Road at about 6.30pm on Friday, the driver of one of the cars, a 17-year-old boy, was airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
“Three other people, who were driving in the other car involved, were also taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
"Any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, should contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225694597 quoting log number 54230073875.
"Alternatively, contact the team directly at SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk."
Following the crash police shut the road for a number of hours, between the Batheaston roundabout and the bridge at Ashley.
The A4 has now fully reopened.
