A new fish and chip shop has gone down a storm with residents after opening in a Wiltshire town centre.

Skippers Fish and Chips opened ahead of the August bank holiday weekend at Cross Hayes in Malmesbury and has since received rave reviews from locals.

Huge queues stretching out the door have been a regular feature at the new takeaway since it opened, after locals sorely missed the presence of a dedicated fish and chip shop.

One resident, Nick Phipps, said: “It’s drawn such a lot of people in, it’s fantastic because other places in Malmesbury are more geared towards kebabs but this is an out and out fish and chip shop.

“It’s been massively well received and I’ve only heard fantastic things about it, it’s gone down really well in the town.”

Other punters took to Facebook to praise the quality on offer at Skippers.

One said: “A long line of people waiting for the skipper’s chippy. A wonderful testament to how good they are.”

Another satisfied customer added: “I just had fish and chips from there, it was the best I’ve had in a long time.”

Skippers Fish and Chips were approached for comment but did not respond.
