Commuters have been warned that a busy road will be closing at the start of next month.
Resurfacing work will be carried on Station Road in Royal Wootton Bassett, with new road markings painted and an adjustment to the surface ironwork.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council has acknowledged the closure will impact commuters in the town but hopes to limit this by only closing the road between 9am and 3pm on Wednesday, November 1.
But the town council also warned that roadworks may overrun due to unpredictable circumstances such as weather conditions, plant breakdowns, and finding additional repairs that need to be addressed after the work has begun.
“Road markings and ironwork adjustments may need to be completed at a later date,” a spokesperson for Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council said.
Although pedestrians will be able to get through, the road will be closed to vehicles and no official road diversion has been put in place to cope with the disruption.
It is expected that most motorists will use New Road, The High Street and Nore Marsh Road for diverted routes, meaning traffic could be particularly busy around those areas.
Locals have been warned to allow extra time for possible delays throughout the town.
“If works are being undertaken in the vicinity of your property, we would suggest speaking to the workforce in advance to ask if there will be any restrictions with regards to access,” they said.
