With the biggest event in Royal Wootton Bassett's calendar about to take to the streets, we've got all the information you need.

Waves of bright colours and joyful faces are expected to flood the streets of Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday, May 18, as the annual carnival returns to the high street.

Entertainment will take place throughout the day in Borough Fields and the High Street with a packed schedule of events including line dancers, sparkly singers and drumming workshops.

In Boroughfields, the day will kick off at 10am with the festival glitter stall, town jesters and Wootton Bassett's Operatic Society bringing fun and laughter to the streets.

At 11am the RWB Line Dancers will take to the stage to share their talent, followed by the Sparkly Singers at midday, Just Jive Lindy Hop at 1pm and Royal Wootton Basett's Rock Choir at 2pm.

Entertainment will carry on into the early evening with live performances from the Ministry of Samba and RWB Brass Band until 5.15pm.

But the talent isn't just limited to Boroughfields, as live performances will also be taking place throughout the day at the Town Hall.

Performances will include Kaya Drums, Grace Notes, Blou Notes, Billy and Louie, Melodix and 41 Degrees.

Crowds can also expect to be wowed by the meandering stilt walkers that will be out and about on the streets of Bassett from 11am to 1.30pm.

"This will be our 52nd year and we are proud that our carnival is still running as many towns have lost theirs," said volunteer organiser Nicky.

"We are a small group of volunteers, all with the same passion to keep the carnival going and continue the community spirit in Royal Wootton Bassett."

The carnival procession itself will set off from Marlowe Way at 4.30pm and is expected to reach the High Street between 5.30pm and 6pm.

The Britannia Majorettes, Revolution Performing Arts Company and Top Hat Riders are just a few of the exciting groups that will be featured in the rainbow-themed procession alongside an abundance of businesses, local groups and music acts.

Drivers are reminded there will be a rolling road closure during this time.

"Top Hat Riders are coming all the way from Poole and we are thrilled they are taking part in the 2024 procession," said a spokesperson for the carnival.

"You will definitely hear the roar of their bikes before you see them."

If all that wasn't entertaining enough, Scarrott's Fun Fair will be running in tandem with the carnival, and visitors can enjoy family rides, children's rides and side stalls.
