Dorothy House shops can be a great way to get a new summer wardrobe without breaking the bank, as LEWIS COWEN reports.
LINDA Raud, manager of the Dorothy House shop in Corsham, wanted to do something special to celebrate the charity's 30th birthday.
She also wanted to highlight the high quality of clothes on sale at her shop and the others supporting the Winsley-based hospice.
So she contacted the Gazette, which has set itself a target of raising £30,000 in the charity's 30th birthday year, and together we organised a fashion photoshoot using some of the designer label clothes, some of which have never been worn.
The stunning surroundings of Corsham Court stately home were opened up to us, as a special dispensation to Dorothy House, and Mrs Raud recruited her goddaughter, Holly Simpkins, 19, and some of her friends on the fashion course at Bath College as models.
Mrs Raud says charity shops are not just for older people. "With High Street names like Hobbs, Jigsaw and French Connection, and designer labels such as Terry Macey and Dolce and Gabbana, our shops are trendy and the place to shop."
