CORSHAM Town boss Trevor Rawlings is hoping that a handful of new signings can help keep his side on track in the Toolstation League First Division.

Rawlings has snapped up former Cambridge United U18 striker Ben Pring, who links up with his brother Sam at the Southbank, whilst the Corsham chief is also looking to bring in midfielder Tom Price, who left local rivals Devizes Town last month before going on to play for Wiltshire League outfit Wroughton.

“We needed to freshen things up a little bit and hopefully a couple of new lads will help,” said the Rawlings.

“I wanted to bring in Ben Pring in the summer but he did pre-season at Chippenham Town and it looked like something might happen there – you’ve definitely got something about you if you’re at Cambridge United and we should be signing Pricey too.

“One bit of bad news is that Nick Holton, who was our player of the season last season, is moving to Australia at the end of this month, so we’re going to be losing him.”

On Tuesday night, an unfortunate bounce in the penalty area saw Corsham slip to a 2-1 defeat at fellow high-fliers Almondsbury UWE, with Levi Cox’s goal cancelled out, whilst last weekend, Cox was on target again as Rawlings’ men held on to earn a 1-1 draw at Welton Rovers after Nick Holton received a second booking, with the home side’s Luke Palmer also seeing red late on.

Corsham make the long trip to the Isle of Wight to take on Cowes Sports in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase next Saturday.

Rawlings said: “We’re going to be leaving at 9.30 in the morning but we’ve got a coach and we’re taking 30 or so supporters, so it should be like a home game. “They’re unbeaten in their league so far but hopefully we can get a result.”
