MARK Cooper is a expecting a spectacle as Town prepare to take on MK Dons tomorrow.

Both sides are known for their attacking brand of football and preference for controlling possession.

For Swindon, it will present a different challenge as they have become accustomed to their opposition attempting to negate their football, rather playing them at their own game.

On Tuesday night at Chesterfield, Paul Cook’s side took it to Town and tested their defence for prolonged periods, without having to keep the ball.

Cooper is expecting Karl Robinson to set his side up to bring the game to the Robins, whilst retaining possession, and thinks the media and fans will be salivating over the prospect of seeing two good footballing sides go at it.

It is certainly intriguing to see what Robinson, a manager with a big reputation, does tactically in the face of Town’s footballing ethos.

Last season, the Town boss believed Dons to be a year ahead of where he wanted his side to be.

Now he is looking forward to measuring the progression against a team he feels has got better since then.

“It’s probably the strongest squad Karl (Robinson) has had since he’s been there,” said the County Ground chief.

“He’s added some real firepower to it. He’s got some good players, not a big squad. He’s got a strong 15 or 16. I’m sure he’ll be hoping for at least the play-offs this year.

“Knowing Karl, I’m sure at home they’ll feel they have every chance of beating us, if they play their game.

“I’m sure fans, pundit and critics will want to go to that game (against MK) because it’s probably perceived that it’s two of the best footballing teams in the league playing.

“They’ll want it to be a spectacle and we’re certainly going to try and make it a spectacle because that’s what we do and hopefully MK Dons will do the same.

“They’re a very good football team. They’ve had some cracking results this year – they beat Man United 4-0. They’re up there and I’m sure, come the run-in, they’ll be competing for those top places.”

Swindon’s back three will have to deal with either Benik Afobe or Will Grigg as a lone striker, though predicting which is a thankless task.

Cooper is a fan of both but also believes that with only one of them to worry about, it could give his side a route to play out from the back.

“They alternate between the two (Afobe and Grigg) which one plays, I’m not sure if Afobe played in the last league game. That will be a decision for Karl which one he plays, they always play one up front,” added Cooper.

“If they play one up front, we play three at the back and it’s difficult to press one on three. I will certainly look at as much footage as I can of MK from their last games and decide what we do in the next couple of days.”
