FIRST Division leaders Warminster Town Reserves had one of their toughest games for a long time at unbeaten Luxol St Andrews who went into the match at Beversbrook with the only remaining 100 per cent record in the top flight.

Both teams would have been happy at the final whistle as a 1-1 draw saw Warminster hold onto the number one spot and Luxol keep their unbeaten record intact.

After a goalless first half Warminster against the run of play took the lead with Sam Clift putting Mark Brefitt’s side in front.

They had the chance to make it 2-0, but Steve Seals saw his penalty brilliantly saved by keeper Lukasz Bareja who was making his debut for Luxol.

The miss was to prove costly as with five minutes remaining, Luxol were awarded a penalty and Pete Spong kept his nerve to find the net from 12 yards and earn Luxol a share of the spoils.

Basement side Westbury United Reserves travelled to third placed Aces FC looking to end an eight-match losing run and for the first 45 minutes they were in with a chance of getting something from their visit to Bath.

But after holding their guests to a goalless first half they failed to deal with both the wind and Aces who rattled in 6 unanswered goals to claim a 6-0 success that moved them into second place.

Mike Little left-footed effort from a corner saw Aces break the deadlock on 55 minutes. Tom Pang’s fine solo finish doubled the hosts lead before substitute Dave Gaskin stole the show with a 15 minute hat trick to take it to 5-0.

A second from Pang who thumped home a 25-yarder made up the half dozen.

Hilperton United suffered three defeats at the hands of Castle Combe last term so when the teams met for the first time this term, Paul Sanderson’s Combe were hopeful that they would chalk up a first win of the campaign. Thanks to a 2-1 success they did just that as they maintained their hoodoo over their opponents.

Hilperton took a first-half lead through Ryan Underwood and they remained in front until the 65th-minute when Quennan Tarawali restored parity for Combe.

With 15 minutes remaining Tarawali fired home his second of the game to hand Combe their fourth straight win over their guests.

Two time defending champions Freshford United hosted and in-form Heytesbury side who arrived at Brown’s Park having won four on the bounce, their last defeat being in the A&B Cup at the hands of their hosts. Once against Chris Birleson’s side emerged victorious with an 8-0 win.

Freshford made a blistering start and were 2-0 up inside five minutes, Jason Povey scoring the first from a Dave Percival assist and then Percival who was a thorn in the side for Heytesbury scored the second himself after being set up by Dean Ranger.

Tom Rooney made it 3-0 on 13 minutes after good work from Theo Sing. Gavin Eyres fired home number 4 on 33 minutes with Povey being the provider. A second from Dave Percival again with help from Dean Ranger made it 5-0 at the break.

The goal of the game came on 52 minutes, Bradley Edwards powering home a stunning header beyond his own keeper took it to 6-0. Tom Rooney latched on to a Gavin Eyres corner for his second of the game and with 10 minutes remaining Theo Sing netted the final goal of the game, Angus Wright being the provider.

A 1-1 draw for Semington Magpies at White Horse saw Dave Jenkins' visitors to Leighton Sports Centre arrest a run of seven straight defeats in all competitions.

White Horse took the lead through Stuart Barber, but his strike was cancelled out by Neil Grant who squared things up on 35 minutes. Grant had a goal disallowed in the second half as did Paul Beavers for White Horse.
