WITH the long-awaited clash between Melksham Town A and Westbury Town lost to a waterlogged pitch at the Beeches, it gave current leaders Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves the chance up open up a five-point gap on their rivals.

Mark Hurkett’s side didn’t waste the opportunity as they picked up another thre points thanks to their 9-1 victory over second from bottom The Stiffs.

Wanderers were 5-1 up at the interval courtesy of a hat trick from Ashley Styles and a goal each from Mark Maguire and Jamie Dennison, Luke Taylor with his first ever league goal replied for The Stiffs.

The second half saw Mark Maguire score another two to complete his hat trick, Dennison added a second to his first-half effort and a fine Nick Gleeson finish made up the nine.

Trowbridge Town Reserves, playing their first match for over a month at what must have been a very wet Woodmarsh, defeated local rivals United FC 7-1.

Gavin Francis got Trowbridge up and running with the opening goal after just 10 minutes.

Two minutes later Simon Parfitt bagged his first of the game, Aaron McCaldon made it 3-0 on 15 minutes and on the hour he added his second for 4-0.

Simon Parfitt struck for a second time in the 36 minute and on the stroke of half time he grabbed his third and the hosts' sixth of the half.

The second half was a more even affair with Francis scored his second and the Town’s seventh on 55 minutes before Jakub Koman completed the scoring with what was United’s consolation.

In what was only their second away league outing of the season, Matt Rusling took his AFC Bradley side to Zeals FC, who before kick-off were just below their guests in the standings. But following a 7-1 defeat they finished the day five points adrift of Russling’s side.

Zeals went ahead on two minutes via Adam Rodriguez, but four goals in 15 minutes from Bradley put them in charge. Will Bayley headed home from a corner to make it 1-1.

Dan Mercer curled home from 20 yards to put Wanderers 2-1 up, Mike Ritson’s penalty made it 3-1 and a second for Bayley took it to 4-1 before Matt Carter scored a second for Zeals.

A stunning free kick from Ritson to go with his penalty saw Wanderers lead 5-2 at the break.

Will Bayley completed his hat-trick with a brilliant overhead effort, but then got himself sent off to blot his copybook.

Zeals reduced the arrears through Joao Rodrigues but it was little more than a consolation as Ben Rogers rounded things off, scoring number seven with a good finish from a well-worked team goal.
