IT IS safe to say the mood in the camp this week has had a big lift in the wake of what was an important four-point weekend.

When you look at your record in the opening weeks and you are one in three, it is hard to hide that there is some panic and questions being asked.

However, it is really satisfying when the management team puts targets on the weekend and you are able to go and achieve them.

To get two points from a team who were top of the league and one of the favourites to win the league is a big boost.

However, with Swindon’s record at Guildford Flames leaving a lot to be desired, the win on Sunday was almost bigger for us.

To take four points is a big lift for the team and it gets you thinking in a different mind-set to what we were going into the weekend before with.

When you start badly, you start thinking it is going to be a long season, but we are suddenly feeling a lot more upbeat for the remainder of the campaign.

It is a cliché but confidence breeds good results and we definitely have the feel-good factor at the moment, and I hope that will reflect in some more positive results over the coming weeks.

It is nice to walk back into the dressing room for training this week and see a lot of smiling faces, rather than last week, when there were a few worried faces around the room.

This weekend, we face Bracknell Bees at the Link Centre before we travel to Blackpool to play Manchester Phoenix.

It may appear to be a long trip, but when you have played in the number of leagues that I have and had to travel 24 hours on a bus to play a game before, a four-hour trip up to Blackpool doesn’t seem too bad.

Hopefully, we can produce the same performance levels that saw us get two wins last weekend and there is no reason why we can’t get our second four-point weekend of the season.
