SWINDON Town Ladies manager Steve Robertson says that his side will travel to Coventry United Ladies on Sunday without any fear.

The Sky Blues have got off to a fine start in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division and sit just two points off the summit.

Last weekend they completed a 5-1 rout away at many people’s favourites for the league Charlton Athletic Women, a side that beat Town 4-0 on the opening day of the season.

Despite that, Robertson is eager for his side to take the game to Coventry rather than act meek and try and park the bus.

“It doesn’t get any easier in this league,” he said.

“We thought that Charlton were going to be the team to beat this year and Coventry smashed them 5-1 last week.

“It will be interesting to see how far we have come.

“We are building slowly into the league and I don’t think we are going there expecting to get beaten, we’ll go there looking to get something from the game and see how it pans out.

“We know where we stand and what we need to do to get through these games.

“If we put a 45 minutes in like we did in the second half last weekend then we’ll be able to hold our own.”

Swindon will be without Chyna Collins and are still waiting for international clearance for Amy Wathan, who is unable to play after her move from Cardiff.

Despite being third from bottom heading into the weekend, Robertson is upbeat about where his side are at the moment and will wait until his side have played everyone before taking stock.

“It’s a huge learning curve and it is important that we remember that and don’t get down-hearted,” added the manager.

“Not many teams excel and having made the jump into the next league.”
