WILTSHIRE School of Gymnastics claimed a bronze medal at the British Gymnastics Team Gym Championships Final in Sheffield earlier this month.

Alexa Evans of Trowbridge, Martha Green of Devizes, and Olivia Wise of Calne did their club proud with an excellent display of tumbling, vaulting, and bouncing across all disciplines.

Melksham's Brook Rockley was initially supposed to compete in the team too, but an injury denied her the chance to join her teammates.

WSG qualified for the national event courtesy of a bronze in the Southern Qualifying event in Southampton in March.

Evans battled through the regional competition with an Achilles injury, making the team's achievement all the more impressive.

Having seen the standard of teams involved, coaches Amy and Alice Phillips altered the girls' routines, introducing higher-level skills.

Following strong entries in the trampette and vault, Evans, Green, and Wise all had three attempts each at the tumbling discipline.

A high score was posted by one of the Wiltshire girls, and after a tense wait the Melksham-based club was announced to have taken third place in the Women's Junior Micro Teams event.
