Swindon Town were swatted aside by promotion-chasing Barrow on their own patch after a disappointing 3-0 defeat.

Town conceded three goals from wide positions as Sam Foley, Kian Spence, and James Chester all notched for the visitors to see Swindon slide further away from the play-off places.

So, how did the Swindon players get on at the County Ground?

GK: Murphy Mahoney – 4

Barrow had three big chances in the whole games and scored from all of them. I am not saying that Mahoney had a particular chance with any of them, but every shot on target went in the back of the net and his defence was very disorganised.

RB: Remeao Hutton – 4

This word applies to quite a few of Swindon’s players in this one, but, anonymous. I can remember one cross he put in, but he never got forward and made himself a presence like he needed to. Swindon had no ideas and he didn’t come up with one.

CB: Udoka Godwin-Malife – 3

This is quite a few poor performances in a row now from Godwin-Malife. The formation change, which came as a result of injuries, took away what he does well and he looked like Bambi on ice at times at the back. After looking very good early in his Town career, Godwin-Malife looks like he is going backwards.

CB: Harrison Minturn – 3

Minturn had possession a lot but slowed the game down unnecessarily. Everything was too many touches and not getting the timing right of his passing. This goes for him and Godwin-Malife, but as the centre-backs, they needed to take control from set pieces and it didn’t happen.

LB: Williams Kokolo – 3

After looking pretty solid in his previous games, Kokolo really struggled in this match. He gave the ball away far too often and he was the player often given space by Barrow, but he never really used it.

CM: Liam Kinsella – 4

Kinsella’s Swindon career has just never got going. He has started to play regularly as the team is imploding and he never seems to add anything that will stop that. He is the only player without an excuse for being fatigued and he is not adding the energy that is desperately lacking.

CM: Saidou Khan – 4

I was very surprised to even hear a man of the match announced, and I was more surprised that it was Khan. Aside from one run where he got fouled, what positives did he add? At the base of midfield, he is the one that needs to set the tempo and he did not do that.

CM: George McEachran – 3

McEachran gets three and not two because he created Swindon’s only chance of the game. Aside from that he was nowhere to be found. I am struggling to remember why I liked McEachran last season as it has been a while since he showed why he should be in the team.

CAM: Dan Kemp – 6

This team is badly screwed when January comes around. Even in the drabbest performances of the season, Kemp is always the only one who looks like it bothers them. He tries to get things going and although he did not succeed, there was at least an attempt and one or two moments when he threatened.

ST: Jake Young – 4

Young played this game with an ankle injury and when I learned that it made a lot of sense. He did not have his normal burst and his touch was letting him down throughout. For the effort of still going out there with an injury, he gets a slight boost.

ST: Charlie Austin – 5

The one thing you can’t levy at Austin is that it doesn’t matter to him. He still plays with a fire and when chances did come, it was because he was a presence in the area. His lack of pace is becoming glaring, however, and he is not offering anything outside of the area as he did early on in the season.

Subs:

Brooklyn Genesini – 4

Genesini came on and then I couldn’t tell you much else. Like when he played early in the season, he is tidy enough but does not offer anything in particular when he is on the field.
