Swindon Town once again let a lead slip as Tranmere Rovers came from behind to beat them 2-1 at Prenton Park.

Dan Kemp opened the scoring with a fine strike in the first half, before Tranmere turned the game on its head after the break with Kieron Morris and Tom Davies turning home to leave Town with nothing.

So, how did the players fare as individuals at Prenton Park?

GK: Murphy Mahoney – 4

This was a shaky display from Mahoney. He looked nervy from the start and that nearly proved very costly. He made a few decent stops, but I think he needed to do better for the opening goal as his initial save needed to be pushed away from the danger zone. Hopefully, his injury is not too serious.

RCB: Harrison Minturn – 6

Minturn is now the only centre-back left in the squad with the plague of injuries and illnesses keeping the others out and he did well as part of the makeshift back three. He was commanding and did not the Tranmere strikers run off him.

CB: Saidou Khan – 5

This is a tough one as Khan did well in an unfamiliar position today, but ultimately it was his error that completely flipped the game. His passing was good and he stood up to two quite physical strikers. Just the mistake was almost unforgivable with where Swindon are right now.

LCB: Williams Kokolo – 5

Kokolo was another one filling in and he did a decent job of it. His pace was useful when others were caught up field but he is quite safe with his passing and that constituted to Swindon feeling slow for much of the game.

RWB: Remeao Hutton – 6

Hutton was much better than last week as playing higher up the pitch helped him to be a big threat. His play to help set up the goal was excellent and he could have served up another few assists when he found Austin with good crosses in the second half.

CM: George McEachran – 7

This was McEachran’s best performance for some time. I have been quite critical of him of late, but he looked far more energetic in this game as he consistently won the ball high up the pitch and linked up with Kemp very well.

CM: Liam Kinsella – 6

Like McEachran, Kinsella was much improved in Birkenhead as the pair looked like quite a good duo. McEachran pushed up and Kinsella swept up behind him and he did a good job of it. He dropped off a bit after the break as Swindon dropped deeper, but there were signs of life.

LWB: Tyrese Shade – 5

Shade was in and out of this game, but when he was involved he did well. Flynn was convinced he was onside when he finished very well and he should have had an assist with a great ball across goal in the second half. There were these very good moments, but he did not do a whole lot else.

CAM: Dan Kemp – 7

Another top performance from Kemp. He popped up everywhere to create and he is the player in the team that knows how and when to up the tempo. It is a joy to watch until you remember there is not long left to enjoy him.

ST: Charlie Austin – 6

Amongst all the talk of Austin playing at the back from some in the fanbase, it was actually some of Austin’s defensive work in the second half that was praiseworthy. He was also linking play very nicely at the other end, a big part in some of Town’s better attacking play.

ST: Jake Young – 4

I suspect that Young has not entirely recovered from the injury that was hampering him last week as he looked off the pace. He was struggling to become much of a factor in holding the ball up and getting in the middle.

Subs:

Lewis Ward – 5

I find it hard to score Ward as he conceded a goal that was not really his fault after he came on, but was on long enough to display his shakiness with the ball at his feet.

Jake Cain – N/A
